Jack rat terrier is mix of the Jack Russell
terrier and Rat Terrier and recognized as a hybrid dog. Hybrid dogs have less
health issues than the pure breeds in general. The study of the both ancestors
of this hybrid dog shows some health issues of the parent of the Jack Rat
Terrier such as Jack Russell has knees and the eyes issues along with the hip
disorders that is always associated with the small breeds. On the other hand
the Rat Terriers have the issues of head injuries in some cases that have not
complete fusion in the bones in head’s crown. One from these health issues can
be found rarely in the Jack Rat Terriers but the hybrids always have no or less
health issues.
