Overview
Malshi are hybrid dogs, a mix of Maltese and Shih Tzu. They are not recognized by major kennel club yet. The main purpose of production of Malshi is to get a low shedding companion dog. Malshi are hypoallergenic non shedding small dogs and they are good with people of every age. They respond very well to adults and responsible children. They are happy and loveable dogs. Their other names are Shih-Tese, Malti-Tzu, Shima and Shihtese. They are small in size and have energy in it. "> Malshi life expectancy is from 10 to 13 years or more. Malshi’s life expectancy may vary from the said years. These are just human’s estimations but the final decision is in the hand of divine. Malshi weight is 09 to 30 pounds and Height is from 10 inches to 20 inches. These heights and weights are for a full young Malshi. Malshi are toy dogs so they are very small but durable dog with a medium build. The head is round in shape and small to medium in size. They have a short muzzle. Mostly muzzle comes in black colors. They eyes of Malshi are round shaped. Ears are flappy and hanging over the cheeks. The tail of Malshi is silky, fluffy and curly, it curved upward at rear. The coat of Malshi may be long, fluffy and silky. the coat of Malshi comes in all colors of Shih Tzu such as black, white, brown or any mix of these three colors.
Mal Shi are devoted, loving, affectionate and gentle dogs. They may be clever, spunky and playful also. They can get well along the older children at home. They usually do well with other dogs and other pets at home. They are suspicious of strangers and may quickly alert the family to visitors and out of the usual sounds. They may tend to bark a lot. Mal Shi are adaptable and lively dogs. They are intelligent also. Like other dogs Mal Shi also required early age socialization and good training. They should be neglected because it turn them to be snappy. In general Mal Shi are very loyal and affectionate to their family and may be good protector of owner. When Shih Tzu side is dominated the Mal Shi may be alert, lively, little dog. Shih Tzu is happy and hardy, and packed with character. Malshi are excellent with aged children generally. They are also good with other animals. They are not good with too young children because they can bit or attack thinking too young children want to play with it. Though, they are very friendly dogs but should be supervised when children are interacted. It is best for both the children and the dog to avoid any damage on both parts. They are generally good companion dogs.
Mal- Shi required a daily grooming by means of a hair brush, daily brushing of coat is necessary to avoid the tangling/matting of hairs. Some owners like to keep the coat of Malshi trimmed for less time consumption in care and grooming. Ear’s way and area around eyes should be kept clean. The sensitive eyes required to be kept clean. These dogs are good for allergy suffers and sheds little to no shed. When they groomed properly and maintain the coat with a great care they shed less skin dander. They should be groomed and coat trimmed after two to three months, the bathe should be after two to three weeks. Malshis may have less health issues than a purebred dog.. They may prone to early tooth loss, eyes issues, infections of Ears and skin infection.
Training is a thing which has a great influence and importance to make a dog brilliant dog. Malshi are not easy to housebreak. These dogs accept the obedience training with a joyful attitude and good behavior. They respond well to a fair, gentle and consistent training. Remember an unconfident and lacked training can be cause of the behavioral problems in all dogs not only in the Malshi . To avoid the behavior problems in your Malshi pay a special attention and be the firm, solid, confident but patient dog trainer and always show the dominance over the dog. The harsh training and rough handling is not recommended for Mal Shi. They like gentle training. Early age socialization training is recommended for these hybrid dogs.
Mal Shi are good for apartment life usually with sufficient exercise and mental stimulation. They moderate active indoor and do well also in a securely fenced yard. They like securely walk on leash. A good amount of exercise is required by the Mal Shih. A jog, run or daily walk is good. They also like a secure off leash play session. Mal Shi is not recognized by American Kennel American Canine Hybrid Club called them Malshi, Designer Dogs Kennel Club recognized them with name as Malti Tzu, International Designer Canine Registry® and Designer Breed Registry calls them Mal Shi.
