Cesky Terrier : History, Appearance and Life Expectancy
Cesky Terrier History
Mr. Frantisik Horak, a dedicated hunter and stock breeder of Scottish Terriers, had a vision of making a terrier appropriate for hunting in packs within the forests of Bohemia. In 1949, he completed the primary breeding between a Scotch terrier and Sealyham terrier that might eventually become the Cesky terrier. In 1950, he reported his records of those breeding to the Czech terrier Club (FCI) and created the request to call the new breed the "Cesky (chess - key) terrier." Keen and alert, the Cesky terrier has been employed in hunting fox, rabbits, ducks, pheasants, and even boar.
Cesky Terrier Life Expectancy
The life expectancy of Cesky Terrier is 12 to 15 years.
Cesky Terrier Appearance
It looks the same as a Sealyham terrier. The wedge-shaped head is about 7-8 inches long and 3-4 inches wide, with a bushy beard, hair and eyebrows. The bridge of the nose is straight with a little stop. The nose is black in grey dogs and liver-colored in brown dogs. The teeth meet in a very scissors or level bite. The tail is 7-8 inches long. The medium- sized, almond-shaped eyes are dark brown in grey coloured dogs, and a lighter brown in brown dogs. The high-set ears are triangular, folding forward near the head. Dewclaws could or might not be removed. The long, sleek coat is slightly wavy. Puppies are born black, black and tan, or brown. Once the dog reaches about 2-3 years old the adult coat color are set and is reminder grey to a dark charcoal to platinum grey. Generally black seems on the head, ears, feet and tail. The head, beard, cheeks, neck, chest, limbs and around the vent could have white, coffee, brown or yellow markings. The light coffee color is sort of rare. The tail could have a white tip or collar.
